In this week's edition of the 106.3 WORD Cover Story, we are taking a look at concussions in football at the high school level. Concussions and head injuries continue to be a hot topic debated on TV, radio, social media, etc. Will the continuing research into head trauma from football cause the game to eventually go the way of the dodo? What new equipment technologies are out there to help make the game safer?

We take a look at those questions and more.

I spoke with Byrnes High School's head football coach, Reggie Shaw, to get his perspective on the topic.

Patrick Gentry had an enlightening interview about concussions with Ohio State University’s head sports team physician Dr. Christopher Kaeding  about what happens to the brain during injury.
