It’s a scary truth but sometimes guns get brought to school by students. Whether it’s by accident, on purpose to show off, or for malicious purposes.

I spoke with Beth Brotherton of Greenville County Schools about what kind of security protocals the schools have, as well as what kind of training faculty goes through when it comes to firearms on campus. I also spoke with a pair of School Resource Officers about the law enforcement side of the issue.

One of the organizations in the Upstate trying to do their part to eliminate the problem of children getting ahold of guns is "Put Down the Guns Now Young People". Ed Jensen had a chance to sit down and talk with the group's founder, Jack Logan. He says the problem begins right at home.

Logan said that he meets each week with children and young adults and sends a special message.

Patrick Gentry spoke to a foundation leader trying to bring gun safety into the twenty-first century.
