In this week's edition of the 106.3 WORD Cover Story we take a look at human trafficking and how it affects the Upstate.

I sat down with Master Deputy Johnathan Bastoni, who works with Homeland Security in Greenville, to find out how bad the issue is in this area.

One organization who is trying to help fight this nationwide crime is Truckers Against Trafficking. I spoke with Kylla Lanier, the deputy director for the organization.

Lanier says that she hopes individuals and more organizations get involved.

I also spoke with local Solicitor, Walt Wilkins, about the crime.

Wilkins says that in some cases it is hard to get the victim to cooperate.

Patrick Gentry talked to someone who was forced into a life of sexual slavery and prostitution. Some listeners my find the account of this ordeal upsetting.
