A dog named Chad was brought into the Greenville County Animal Control with a severe leg injury. According to the organization’s Facebook page, the dog’s leg unfortunately had to be amputated.

He also suffered from heartworms and had a long road to recovery, but thanks to donations to the Second Chance Fund, which rehabilitates injured or diseased animals in the area, Chad had a second shot.

However, unbeknownst to Chad or anyone else, a man named Matt and his girlfriend, who both live in Florida, happened to stumble across a post about Chad’s recovery process.

Matt, who is an amputee himself, having lost his right leg below the knee, fell in love with Chad and his story.

So they drove all those miles to Greenville to adopt Chad, and now the three of them are going to travel the country, hiking and exploring.

Matt was so grateful for his new amputee buddy, he donated $500 to the Second Chance Fund to help the next animal in need.
