Anderson, SC  – Anderson County Emergency Management Division will conduct a training exercise in cooperation with the County’s Hazardous Materials Unit and other first responder organizations on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at T.L. Hanna High School located at 2600 SC-81, Anderson, SC 29621.

The event is part of a biennial, FEMA-graded exercise that evaluates the county’s readiness as a reception center for evacuees of a possible incident at the Oconee Nuclear Station.

Participating organizations will simulate procedures for managing individuals who may have potentially been exposed to radiological contamination resulting from a general emergency, the most serious emergency classification level, which may occur at a nuclear power facility.

A dress rehearsal involving key players will take place this evening from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. also at the high school.

Members of the media wishing to observe the exercise or dress rehearsal should report to the Media Staging area located near the County’s Mobile Command post that will be setup in the school’s parking lot, between 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. on either day.
