Another Winning Ticket in the Upstate

$2M Powerball

March 22, 2019 - 9:39 am

Another Upstate store has sold a winning lottery ticket.  This time, it was for the $2 millon Powerball and it was sold at the Publix on West Butler Road in Mauldin.

The $2 million was won from Wednesday's drawing, but it wasn't the big prize winner.  No one picked all the numbers needed to win the $550 million.  The next drawing is Saturday and, as of right now, that jackpot is up to $625 million.

Lottery officials say the Mauldin ticket matched all five white ball numbers drawn and the ticket holder paid the extra dollar for the PowerPlay, so that increased what would have been a $1 million win to $2 million.

There were actually 3 winners from South Carolina on Wednesday.  The other two were in Indian Land and Goose Creek.

Back in October of 2018, a convenience store in Simpsonville, the KC Mart, sold a ticket that was for the largest jackpot in U.S. history, $1.57 billion.  It took the winner 4 months to come forwward.  They took the cash option of just nearly $878 million and chose to remain anonymous, which is legal in South Carolina.
