CHINA GROVE, N.C. (AP) — State transportation officials say contractors will detour southbound traffic on a portion of Interstate 85 to allow bridge girders to be set.

The N.C. Department of Transportation says the girders are being set for the Old Beatty Ford bridge in Rowan County. The work is scheduled to take place from midnight until 6 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday as part of the I-85 Corridor Improvement Project.

NCDOT is directing motorists to use exit 68, U.S. 29 and Lane Street to detour around the closure. Law enforcement officers will be stationed to help direct traffic.
