LaGrange Police arrests 5 in homicide probe

LAGRANGE, Ga. (AP) — Five people are in custody and a sixth is wanted for a homicide in Georgia.

The LaGrange Police Department says it happened June 27 during an armed robbery attempt that ended with 24-year-old Javontay Carr of Columbus, Mississippi, dead.

Lt. Dale Strickland tells the LaGrange Daily News Carr was one of the people involved in the robbery attempt of three LaGrange store owners but got in between the others who were shooting and they accidentally hit him.

Strickland says Malcolm Holloway, of LaGrange, and Sellus Culvin, Anthony Morris and Christopher Jacobs, all of Columbus, Mississippi, face one count of felony murder. Culvin, Morris and Jacobs also face three counts of criminal attempt murder.

Pam Barker of Columbus, Mississippi faces a tampering with evidence charge in connection to the case.
