FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina man has been indicted on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a woman who died in his home from a drug overdose.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that 67-year-old William Earl Hendrix of Fayetteville was indicted by the Cumberland County grand jury and was arrested June 15. It was not known if he has an attorney.

Twenty-five-year-old Heather Coffman was found unresponsive in the bathroom of Hendrix' home in 2015. She died at the scene.

District Attorney Billy West said Hendrix is accused of providing the woman with a controlled substance and she then overdosed. West said it's one of the first indictments for a drug overdose in Cumberland County.

An autopsy determined that Coffman had heroin, cocaine, fentanyl and oxycodone in her system.
