CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Police say a man who was wanted for assaulting and robbing a teenage girl forced his way into her North Carolina home, fatally shot her father and friend, then killed himself.

Charlotte-Mecklenberg police said in a statement Monday that 23-year-old John Bocek was accused last week of assaulting a 16-year-old girl and taking her phone. Then Sunday, police say Bocek forced his way into the girl's Charlotte home, where he killed her father, 51-year-old Matthew Chaplin, and her 15-year-old friend, Jenna Hewitt, who was a guest for the night.

The uninjured 16-year-old ran to a neighbor's home to call 911. Police say Bocek fatally shot himself.

Police say they'd been looking for Bocek to serve warrants charging him with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in the previous incident.
