ATLANTA (AP) — A former Georgia State University student convicted in a serial rape case will spend the rest of his life in prison.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports a jury convicted 33-year-old Dominic Lawton, of Ocilla, on several charges including rape, kidnapping and aggravated sodomy. A judge sentenced him Friday to three consecutive life sentences, plus 10 years.

District Attorney Sherry Boston's office said in a statement that Lawton sexually assaulted at least three women in DeKalb County in 2016. In each case, the victims said Lawton forced them into his red pickup and made them perform sexual acts. At the time of the attacks, Lawton attended GSU in Atlanta.

After Lawton was arrested, he was linked to two other sexual assaults, including one in Tift County. That case is pending.
