South Carolina man sentenced to life for fatal shooting

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A North Charleston man has been convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison in connection with a 2015 shooting at a Dorchester County apartment complex.

The Post and Courier reports ( 31-year-old Byron Christopher Kinsey was convicted Thursday in the shooting death of 35-year-old Robert Crumm. He was also convicted on one count of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Then-Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said Crumm was shot in the leg and chest and died within minutes. Kinsey eluded authorities for three months, before being arrested in June 2014.
