Zach Randolph faces misdemeanor marijuana charge in LA

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sacramento Kings forward Zach Randolph has been charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and resisting arrest after an incident this month at a Los Angeles housing project.

Court documents obtained by The Associated Press on Thursday say the two-time NBA All-Star possessed "more than 28.5 grams of marijuana or more than four grams of concentrated cannabis or both."

Randolph had initially been arrested Aug. 9 on suspicion of possessing marijuana with intent to sell — a felony — but Los Angeles city prosecutors instead charged Randolph with the two misdemeanors.

His attorney didn't immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday, but has previously called the allegations "false and misleading."

Randolph, a 16-year NBA veteran, spent eight seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies before signing with the Sacramento Kings in July.
