(GREENVILLE)- Greenville Police Department (GPD) officers have arrested a 36-year-old male for a bank robbery that occurred at the TD Bank located at 917 Haywood Road this morning. At this time, investigators do not believe any weapons were used during the commission of this crime.

No injuries have been reported from this morning’s incident.

Brandon Laster of Piedmont, SC, is being held at the Law Enforcement Center with pending charges for bank robbery.

Summary of Events:

At approximately 9:15 a.m., GPD dispatch was advised of a bank robbery in progress at the TD Bank on Haywood Road. Officers immediately responded to the location.

Bank personnel described the subject as a black male, wearing dark clothing and a ski mask who entered the bank and demanded money. He grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store on foot before entering a vehicle.

The GPD received credible information that the subject was in the area of I-85 at I-185. With the assistance of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol, GPD officers quickly located and detained Mr. Laster without incident after a traffic stop at I-85N at Staunton Bridge Road at approximately 9:35 a.m.

“The successful resolution of today’s incident was a direct result of the Greenville Police Department working collaboratively with our fellow law enforcement agencies,” said Captain Howie Thompson. “Additionally, I could not be more proud of how our 911 dispatch operators expertly coordinated the critical flow of information, which allowed us to quickly apprehend this individual without harm to our citizens or to our dedicated officers.”

Forensics was dispatched to the bank, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified and is reviewing the case for prosecution.
