Visits Columbia & Spartanburg tomorrow

April 24, 2019 - 10:15 am

Democratic Presidential hopeful Cory Booker is meeting with South Carolina Democrats this week.  The senator from New Jersey will meet with the House Democratic Caucus in Columbia on Thursday.

Booker’s presidential campaign says he’ll then travel to Spartanburg to meet with the community group, ReGenesis, to talk about cleanup efforts at the former Arkwright landfill and former fertilizer plant.  Both of these are "superfund" sites.

Then, it’s onto Union for another event.

On Friday, the Senator’s 50th birthday, Booker will be visiting Clarendon, Hampton and Beaufort counties.

Booker’s last visit to the Palmetto State was an appearance in Simpsonville.  He seems to be making an effort to focus on smaller towns in his past trips to South Carolina.  Recently, he netted the endorsement of several black elected officials in the state including state Rep. Leola Robinson-Simpson of  Greenville, Rep. Annie McDaniel of  Fairfield, Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis, Clarendon County Auditor Patricia Pringle, and Manning Mayor Julia Nelson.
