The city of Greenville says the Eugenia Duke Bridge (the pedestrian bridge behind the Peace Center) and the steps leading from Main Street down to Japanese Dogwood Lane will be closed beginning Wednesday morning.

The purpose of the temporary closures is to allow crews to install a new sluice gate at the Reedy River step falls.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed and the bridge and steps reopened by the end of the day on Friday.

Pedestrian access along Japanese Dogwood Lane will be maintained and detour signs will be posted.
