The mother of the two six year old twin boys who died in a felony DUI car crash was previously cited for not using a child safety seat with her boys.

Jennifer Lynn Knox, age 38, of Senneca, was hospitalized after crashing her car at about 10 pm on Sunday in Pickens County while driving under the influence.

She reportedly was trying to pass a car that was pulling a boat, swerved into the oncoming traffic lane, and crashed her BMW head-on into another vehicle, which resulted in her car flipping multiple times.

Her twin boys, who were both not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle, causing their deaths.

She had been issued the citation for not properly restraining her children in that vehicle on May 17, just nine days before the fatal crash.

Knox, who was also not wearing a seatbelt but is expected to recover, will be booked into the Pickens County jail once she is released from the hospital.

She is charged with two counts of felony DUI resulting in death, child endangerment, and two counts of child restraint violation and seatbelt violation.
