Anderson County Sheriff's Deputy, Timothy Ryan Chapman, has been charged with reckless homocide for a wreck that took the life of 22-year-old Joshua Caleb Martin.

Deputies got a call about a stolen vehicle on July 23 around 7:45 p.m. at the 7-Eleven on Highway 8 and 81.

The vehicle didn’t pull over when deputies tried to stop it and the pursuit started.

The car that Martin was driving was not involved in the chase. He was driving north on HIghway 88 when Deputy Chapman hit him in the passenger side.

Stephen Combs of the Sheriff's Office says that Chapman is now on personal leave and that an administrative hearing will process will take place to determine a leave status and/or future employment.
