Deputy Involved Accident In Spartanburg

A Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Deputy was uninjured after an early morning vehicle accident.

In a release from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office the accident happened after a deputy was on the way to assist the Gaffney Police Department trying to apprehend a suspect wanted on domestic violence charges.

During the pursuit a deputy was involved in a minor wreck with another vehicle at the intersection of Hwy. 9 and I-585.  Neither the driver of the other vehicle nor the Spartanburg Deputy were injured.

The pursuit continued until the suspect stopped the vehicle and ran from it on foot at the intersection of Asheville Hwy. and N. Cleveland Park Dr. He ran into a wooded area but was quickly apprehended behind a house.

That suspect is Ryan Anthony Lyles and he was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
