Divers and search teams on Tuesday morning located the body of a man who went under the water and never resurfaced at Lake Hartwell.

The incident occurred at Singing Pines on Highway 29 in Starr at 8:46 p.m. Monday.

Family members said 24-year-old Juber Lemus was enjoying a picnic with friends when he went for a swim. Lemus went under the water and never resurfaced.

Crews spent the night in the water searching for Lemus.

Anderson Co. Emergency Management says divers from Abbeville and Oconee counties were brought in to assist in the search on Tuesday morning.

Just after 11:15 a.m. officials announced that divers had located a man's body and that body had been recovered.

Anderson Technical Rescue, Hart County Dive Team, Hart County Emergency Management, Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Anderson County Emergency Management, and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources helped in the operation.
