Drought Declarations

Good news for Anderson, Pickens & Oconee

June 14, 2019 - 1:51 pm

The recent rains we had brought the Upstate some good news.

The S.C. Drought Response Committee has removed drought declarations for three Upstate counties.  It also downgraded drought status for 35 others.

The drought declaration was removed for Anderson, Pickens and Oconee counties.  Greenville, Spartanburg, Laurens and Union counties, which were in a "moderate" drought status, are still listed as "incipient." That's considered the first level of drought and an improvement since the recent rains.

Although the rains came this past week, it's probably too late for some crops across the Palmetto State, including some corn.
