A false alarm at Walmart, after some shoppers feared a shooting was about to take place.

Police say a man who was thought to have entered the Walmart Supercenter on Wade Hampton in Greer with a gun in his hand Thursday afternoon was actually just holding a pair of sunglasses.

This happened a little past noon, when officers were called to the scene following reports of a man with a weapon in his hand.

Officers played it safe and made sure no additional customers entered the store as they searched the location.

They didn’t find the man in question – he’d already left – but upon reviewing surveillance footage from different angles, realized it was just a pair of shades.

They gave the all clear sign right afterwards, because apparently nothing shady was going on... just something shady was going on.
