For this week’s edition of the 106.3 WORD cover story we are beginning a monthly series taking a look at small towns in the Upstate. Fountain Inn was first on the list. So I traveled there and met with a couple of people who may know a thing or two about the town; the Director of the History Center, Randall Frye, and lifelong Fountain Inn resident, 92 year old Alton Weathers.

Both individuals were very informative and really painted a great picture of how Fountain Inn was and how it’s morphed into the charming little town that it is today.

Mr. Frye educated me on how Fountain Inn got it’s name, as well as a pair of famous people that hailed from the town.

Mr. Weathers walked me down memory lane from his perspective. We talked about how things were back in the day, how they have changed, and some of his favorite aspects of living in Fountain Inn all these years.

If you haven’t even been, I highly recommend you going. It is a wonderful town with an up and coming food scene, improving nightlife, a rich history, and really friendly folks.
