Voters in one South Carolina county are picking a Republican candidate for a vacant state Senate seat.

William Timmons gave up his seat in the South Carolina Senate when he was elected as the new 4th District Congressman in November.

The candidates in Tuesday's voting include Greenville Rep. Dwight Loftis, Greenville City Councilwoman Amy Ryburg Doyle and Greenville businessman Jeffrey Stringer. If no one gets a majority in Tuesday's voting, the top two candidates will meet in a runoff Feb. 5.

The Republican winner will face Democrat Tina Belge in a special election March 26.
