SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) __ A Clemson University professor says it's unclear what caused a fish kill in South Carolina lakes last month.

It was reported that a Clemson professor studied the cause of a fish kill at Lake Bowen and another reservoir in Spartanburg County.

Professor John Rogers said a spray recently used to kill algae on the water may have contributed to the fish kill, but was not the only cause.

A number of dead fish were found in the water shortly after the algae killing spray May 14.
