Fluor Corporation, which is based in Irving, TX, but has a major office in Greenville, has been awarded a $240 million contract to help restore electric power to Puerto Rico.  It’s been reported that more than three-quarters of the island still has no power.

The 6-month contract came from Army Corps of Engineers’ South Atlantic Division.  It includes equipment evaluation and repair, as well as working toward getting switching and substations back on line.

Maria was one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record and arrived just after the financially troubled island was damaged by Hurricane Irma.
