Executive Director Holly Caprell of the Greenville County Youth Orchestras (GCYO) since 2007 was the recipient of the Metropolitan Arts Council’s Visionary Award at their annual meeting on March 26 in the Gunter Theatre at the Peace Center.  The Business and the Arts Partnership Awards, sponsored by TD Bank, is the highlight of the MAC year bringing the business and arts communities together to mutually acknowledge how they interact and collaborate to make Greenville one of the country’s most dynamic cities.

Holly has significantly expanded the offerings of GCYO during her tenure, reorganizing the orchestras and leading the important search for Dr. Gary Robinson’s replacement when he retired after 30 years of building the Young Artist Orchestra into one of the premier youth orchestras in the Southeast.  The programs for which she serves as Executive Director not only develop and educate these talented young musicians, but enhances their performance, personal musicianship and builds musical futures for its many graduates.

Holly received her B.A. from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a major in Psychology and minors in Music Performance and Accounting.  She is private voice and piano teacher, and teaches voice at Southside Christian School in Greenville. Holly is active as a performer and music director and may be seen often on area theatre stages.
