In this week's edition of the one oh six three w-o-r-d cover story, we take a look at Greenville native  Air Force Major Rudolf Anderson, Jr., who, on Oct 27th 1962, became the only combat casualty of the Cuban Missile Crisis when his plane was shot down during a reconaissance mission.

Ed Jenson gives a brief history of  the Cuban Missile Crises as he talked with Dr. Cleveland Fraser Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Furman University

I take a look at how the U.S. Government commended him after the Crisis

As well as how he is remembered today both in the Upstate and across the country
