Hit and Run Suspect Arrested

Crash was Fatal

At the request of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to 177 Seneca Creek Road and apprehended a Seneca man who had an arrest warrant from the Highway Patrol charging him in the Saturday evening fatal hit and run accident on Wells Highway at Owens Road.

Late this afternoon, deputies from the Criminal Investigations Division, the Narcotics Unit, the P.A.C.E. Team, the Special Operations Division, the SWAT Team, and the Uniform Patrol Division located the suspect, 19 year old John Melvin Miller, Jr. at the Seneca Creek Road location.

Miller, Jr. fled from deputies on foot but was apprehended a short time later without incident. 

Miller, Jr. was then turned over to the custody of the South Carolina Highway Patrol
