The Spartanburg Police Department said a home invasion on Sunday is under investigation.

A woman was in her bedroom at home on North Park Drive when she heard a knock on the door about five minutes after her husband had left for church.

According to the incident report, the victim waited and thought the person at the door left when all of the sudden she saw the bedroom door slowly creep open.

Officers said the intruder told her he had been hired by her husband to do yard work but then immediately fled through the front door. Investigators said the back door appeared to have been forced open with tools.

The incident report states that nothing appeared to have been stolen. Their normal landscaper was on a cruise, police confirmed.

The suspect was described as a thin male in his 40s or 50s with dark clothes and a red bandana.
