The South Carolina Department of Commerce says manufacturing company IPSUM Technologies is set to invest $19.2 million in a new space in Pickens County.

The investment announced Wednesday is expected to create about 55 jobs. The state Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $500,000 grant to the county for costs related to the project.

Former Gov. Nikki Haley's husband, Michael, is a partner and adviser for the company, which focuses on high-technology sectors such as aerospace and defense.

A DOC release says hiring is expected to start this fall for positions at the Liberty site. It says the jobs will typically require engineering or high-tech manufacturing skills.
