K-9 Officer "Rocky" Captures Suspect

After two reports of auto break-ins

Greenville Police Department officers and a K-9 unit arrested a suspect follwoing an auto break-in in the Courtyard by Marriott parking garage Thursday morning.

According to a police news release, officers responded to the area near the Peace Center around 11:50 a.m. in reference to an auto break-in that was reported in the hotel's parking garage on West Broad Street.

A description of the suspect was given and officers began to search the area.

Witnesses were able to give police information that assisted them in the search for the suspect, and they were able to set-up a perimeter that included Countybank Building's parking garage off of West McBee Avenue.

Around 12:30 p.m., K-9 Officer Rocky found the suspect -- Vonnie Earl Locklear, Jr., 29 -- on the bottom floor of the garage.

Locklear surrendered to police and gave them information regarding to his involvement in the auto break-in.

According to police, Locklear was taken to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.

He was charged with one count of auto breaking.
