A mom on meth is accused of passing out behind the wheel of a car with a small child in the backseat in Lyman.

Police say the incident happened Sunday on Highway 357 when a man stopped to try to wake her up but the woman was unresponsive. A Spartanburg County deputy says the woman was slumped over the wheel and the car was running with a small child unbuckled in the backseat.

The deputy managed to wake the woman up and identify her as 32-year old Brandi Brigman. She told the officer she drove to the store to buy an alcoholic drink to help with a UTI she had. Upon searching the suspect, meth was found in Brigman’s jacket pocket and she also failed a field sobriety test.

When officers searched the rest of Brigman’s property, they recovered 7 needles with meth inside, a pipe and a spoon with white residue. Brigman was jailed on charges of DUI and child endangerment.

WORD has reached out to Spartanburg County authorities about the status of the child but no comment has been given.
