Tried to Ditch Drugs While Running

A man who tried to ditch his drugs while leading police on a foot chase is behind bars.

While being chased by police, a man tried to ditch 48 heroin/fentanyl pills, 48 ecstasy pills, and 81 xanax pills -- with no luck. 

Laurens County Sheriff's Office warrant division went to a home along Cypress Street in Clinton to take in a fugitive identified as Direon Aikeem Conner.

Conner was wanted on general sessions bench warrants for failure to appear. 

When deputies got there, Mr. Conner took off through the front door but was caught by deputies after a short foot chase.

Conner initially resisted but was finally arrested and taken to Johnson Detention Center. 

During chase, deputies saw Mr. Conner throw a white package, which they of course went back and picked up.

Conner was charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule ll controlled substance, among other charges.
