Car Repo Man Shot

An attempted murder took place in Gaffney, and all over the repossession of a car.

This happened Wednesday night around 7pm. Officers with the Gaffney Police Department say a repo man was trying to reclaim a vehicle when the car’s owner took out a gun and shot him.

The alleged shooter was identified as Russell Jerod Smith, Jr.

Smith was arrested in North Carolina, having fled the scene.

The shooting victim is recovering at the hospital in stable condition.

As for the shooter, he’s facing attempted murder charges as well as weapons possession charges, and has a bond set at more than $200,000.
