A child death investigation continues in Oconee County.

Deputies were called to a residence on Bright Eyes Drive in Westminster October 1st in reference to a child in distress. 

First Responders arrived on scene,  but were unable to resuscitate the child. 

Medical findings and other developments have led to charges of unlawful neglect of a child against Molly Morgan Spivey and Ronnie Glenn Christen. 

Additional charges may be forthcoming.  

The Coroner's office and SLED have joined in the investigation with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.

Official Press Release from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office:

At approximately 1:40pm on October 1st, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service to 374 Bright Eyes Drive in the Westminster area, in reference to a child in distress.

Upon deputies’ and first responders’ arrival to the scene, first responders attempted to resuscitate the child, but were unsuccessful.

This child’s death is currently under investigation by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Oconee County Coroner’s Office and SLED.

This case remains under investigation.

Due to recent medical findings and other developments, Molly Morgan Spivey and Ronnie Glenn Christen have been charged with Unlawful Neglect of a Child/Helpless Person.  

Investigations of this nature are very extensive and complex, therefore developments are often gradual. Pending further investigation developments, additional charges may be forthcoming.
