Downtown GVL Road Closure

South Main St. Travel Affected

A stretch of Main Street in Downtown Greenville will be closed beginning Monday.

The City says a tower crane will be removed from the Camperdown development, shutting down a stretch of South Main Street from Broad Street to Falls Park Drive. 

Vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited from Monday July 6th to Thursday July 9th. 

Detours will be posted. 

Additionally, Townes Plaza, across from Falls Park will be closed for two weeks for drainage and landscaping improvements effecting some parking along Falls Park Drive during construction.

South Main Street, from Broad Street to Falls Park Drive, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic from Monday, July 6 to Thursday, July 9.

The purpose of the closure is to allow Brasfield & Gorrie to remove the tower crane from the Camperdown development.

The sidewalk in this section of South Main will be open overnight from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Detours will be posted. 

Beginning Monday, July 6, Townes Plaza, at the corner of South Main Street and Falls Park Drive (across from Falls Park), will be closed for approximately two weeks.

The purpose of the closure is to allow crews to make drainage and landscaping improvements and resurface the plaza.

Pedestrian access and access to businesses will be maintained; however, some parking along Falls Park Drive may be unavailable during construction.
