A pedestrian is dead in Anderson County after a driver fled the scene of a hit and run.

Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with the South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the pedestrian was struck on Highway 76 at Phil Watson Road around 10:35pm Tuesday night. 

The driver of the vehicle did not stop after striking the victim and fled the scene in the westbound lane. 

The pedestrian died on Highway 76.  

Highway Patrol is still investigating with assistance from the Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team. 

The identity of the vehicle and its driver is unknown at this time. 

Trooper Joe Hovis said "there could be possible damage to the front and driver’s side of the vehicle." 

Anyone with information or tips is asked to contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol or Anderson Area Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.

Tips leading to the arrest of those responsible could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Where:    US Primary 76 near Phil Watson Road Anderson, South Carolina.                     
Vehicle / Suspect Information:  
The type of suspect vehicle is unknown at this time.  However, there could be possible damage to the front and driver’s side of the vehicle.
