An Anderson boy was airlifted to the hospital on Thursday after an accident on the playground left him unresponsive.

Anderson County District 5 spokesman Kyle Newton confirmed that the fifth grader who attended Concord Elementary fell off a swing, which led to the injury.

EMS arrived and quickly called for a helicopter, and the boy was transported to Greenville.

The school notified the child’s family.

A district spokesperson has reported that the child's mother says the boy has a broken wrist and a severe neck injury.
