Following a Sunday morning shooting at a Greenville nightclub that left two dead, county Sheriff Hobart Lewis told WYFF that the nightclub “shouldn’t have been open.

Lewis told the station the club was in violation of South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster's State of Emergency declaration, which prohibits night clubs from opening as well as concert venues.

"Whoever opened this club, I would say, assumes 100% responsibility for who came in last night, and who got to go home and what they brought into that club, " Lewis told WYFF. "So, if those club owners are watching, I hope they sleep well tonight. Because it’s their fault, 100%."

He added that the clubs ownership will receive a $200 citation and that he's personally seeking to shut the establishment down.
