A man is now on the run after a harrowing police chase.

This happened in Anderson County. Police say an officer was trying to pull a car over on Gossett Street when the car sped off.

After giving pursuit for short distance, police called off the chase for the sake of public safety. But soon after officers learned that the car had crashed into another vehicle just down the road, injuring a young nurse who was on her way home from the hospital.

The victim’s fiancé said she is doing okay, despite the suspect’s car T-boning her vehicle at a speed of around 90 miles per hour.  She will need some physical therapy, however, to deal with muscle damage.

Before officers got to the scene of the crash, the driver had hopped out of the car and ran off, managing to avoid being captured despite the use of K9 police dogs.

Surveillance footage from a nearby convenience store is being reviewed.
