A man is recovering in the hospital from a gunshot wound Thursday evening in Greer.

According to the Greer PD, the man was sitting in his car at the intersection of Davis Avenue and Poplar Drive around 6:45pm when another vehicle drove by and shot into his car.

Officers arrived on scene, located the victim and then had him transported to the emergency room with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

There were no other people in the victims car at the time of the shooting and Officers believe this to be an isolated incident.

Preliminary findings reveal the parties involved were acquainted with one another.

This evening at approximately 6:45 pm officers with the Greer Police Department were dispatched to a shooting that occurred near the intersection of  Davis Avenue and Poplar Drive. When officers arrived on scene they located a gunshot victim inside of a car.
 
Our initial investigation indicates that another vehicle drove by the victim while he was seated in his car at the intersection and shot into his vehicle. The victim was the sole occupant of the car and was transported to the emergency room for treatment. The injuries to the victim do not appear to be life threatening at this time.
 
Detectives with our Criminal Investigation Division are on scene beginning their investigation into this incident. Based on the information known to us at this time it appears that the parties involved knew each other and that this is an isolated incident. We do not have any further information that we can release at this time.
