Mauldin's Mayor pro tem steps down.

The Mauldin City Council accepted the resignation of Councilman Dale Black, Mauldin's Mayor pro tem, in a meeting Monday.

His resignation is effective immediately.

According to news outlets, Black was under pressure to resign after the group Concerned Citizens of Mauldin deemed Facebook posts made by Black to be racially insensitive.

Black served the city of Mauldin for over 23 years.
