Press Release from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office

(Walhalla, SC) The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help today regarding two separate burglaries that occurred at two separate convenience stores in Oconee County early Tuesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office is also seeking to identify an individual in relation to both burglaries.

Deputies were dispatched to The Lake Shop convenience store on N. Highway 11 near Salem around 12:36am Tuesday in regards to an alarm call.  As the investigation began, deputies observed that the front door of the business was shattered by a bushel of firewood and that entry had been made into the business, whereupon the person the Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify stole cigarettes from the store.  The individual then got into a sedan and drove off in the direction of Walhalla on N. Highway 11.

While that investigation was ongoing, deputies were dispatched to the Bountyland Quik Stop location on the Highway 123 by-pass near Clemson around 1:29am Tuesday in reference to an alarm call in which entry was made into a side door of the business, whereupon cigarettes were stolen from that location by the person that the Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify.  The individual matches the description of the individual in The Lake Shop convenience store case.

The individual that investigators need to identify is a black male wearing a white shirt, a blue ball cap that contained the letter B and long blue jean shorts.  The individual arrived to The Lake Shop location in a silver or light colored sedan that is believed to be a Toyota Camry or Corolla.  At The Lake Shop location, evidence obtained appears to show a second individual who gets out of the vehicle and walks to the end of the parking lot toward Highway 11.
