Released from Greenville County.

Greenville County, in partnership with Phillis Wheatley Association (now known as the Phillis Wheatley Community Center), has officially reopened the newly renovated Phillis Wheatley Community Center.

"For many years, even generations, the Phillis Wheatley Center served as focal point for educational, recreational, and social activities that developed strong connections among community members," said Butch Kirven, Chairman, Greenville County Council.

"Now after renovations, that great work will continue."

The historic facility was in jeopardy of permanently closing when the County stepped in with 42.4 million of investment that includes a new roof and HVAC system, upgrades to the gym floor, all new floor covering and exterior glass, WiFi, and IT infrastructure.
