Seneca man issued more than a speeding ticket.

47 year-old David Lee Browne of Seneca has been arrested after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and a hand gun!

Oconee County Sheriff's Deputies say they initiated a traffic stop after seeing a vehicle driving about 70 mph near the intersection of Toccoa Highway and Ollie Lane that was swerving into the opposite lane of traffic.

Deputies smelled alcohol, found an open container in the driver's side door and a pistol near the driver's seat.

During a search, deputies also found a small bag of meth.

Brown was taken to the Oconee County Detention Center and is facing charges including unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of meth, speeding and open container.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 47 year old David Lee Browne of Seneca on charges of; Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Open Container in Motor Vehicle.      

On November 16th, 2019 an Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Toccoa Highway and Ollie Lane after noticing a vehicle traveling through the area at 70mph and swerving in to the opposite lane of travel.

When the vehicle was approached David Lee Browne was encountered and had the smell of alcohol on him.

Browne advised the Sheriff’s Office Deputy that he had one beer prior to driving in his vehicle, but was not intoxicated.

Browne then was asked to step out of his vehicle and he complied.

Browne was asked if he had anything illegal in the vehicle and he said that he did not.

An open container of alcohol was observed in his vehicle against the driver side seat floor board and a pistol was also discovered near the driver’s seat in the vehicle.

Browne advised that he did not have a Concealed Weapon Permit.

Browne was placed under arrest and while being searched a small plastic baggie containing Methamphetamine was located

David Lee Browne was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

He has been charged with; Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Open Container in Motor Vehicle along with a ticket fine for speeding.
