Sad news to report out of Union County.

Today the Union County Coroner confirmed that a 16-year-old boy who’d been injured in an explosion at a restaurant over the summer has since passed away.

Cole Harris was inside his family’s Old English restaurant on July 13th, waiting for his father to finish cutting the grass outside, when an explosion occurred.

Family members rushed in to save Cole, but the boy had sustained burns over 92 percent of his body.

He’d been a patient at the Augusta Burn Center in Georgia for the last few months, but sadly succumbed to his injuries last Saturday.

An investigation continues as to the cause of the explosion that took Cole’s life.
