The Oconee County Sheriff's Office released this statement on Wednesday.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Tommy Lee Looney of Westminster on charges of Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.

On August 28th, 2019 Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Hope Drive in Walhalla in reference to a disturbance. Upon deputies’ arrival to the scene, a female was encountered who had been doused in gasoline and was hiding in a wooded area. She informed deputies that she had been hit by Looney and that he had poured gasoline on her legs, then shortly after fled the scene.

Deputies located Tommy Lee Looney driving south on Highway 11 toward Westminster and initiated a traffic stop. Looney was advised that he was being arrested for Domestic Violence and was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center, where he is currently being held.

Tommy Lee Looney has been charged with Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature and is awaiting a bond hearing.
