The YMCA of Greenville is providing childcare for medical personel and first responders.

Scott Baddley, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greenville, said they realized early on that they could provide this service.

"The Y from the point in time where we had to unfortunately temporarily close facilities realized that we have a segment of our population that are providing direct assistance to treat people who have the virus and they have kids," Baddley said.

Most people with children in the program are first responders and medical personnel who are working long hours during the pandemic.

Baddley said they tailored the program to be specific to their needs, and it has been very well received.

"It has at least provided them with some peace of mind that while they are out there doing such incredible community lifting right now trying to keep people healthy or treat those who are sick having their kids at the Y having fun was just an essential thing so we were glad to do it. We really consider it an honor to be able to serve in that capacity," Baddley said.
