Permission from NGU

North Greenville University breaks ground for a new sports facility.  It's a $1.5 million upgrade to Ashmore field on the NGU campus in Tigerville.

Phase one will be making the baseball field all artificial turf, a first for a high school or college in the state.  It will also get new batting cages, bullpen, scoreboard and netting. The hope is to be ready for the Crusader’s first home game on February 8, 2018

The project is being funded by private donations and will be renamed Ray Dillard Field once completed. That's the deceased husband of Bea Dillard of Spartanburg, one of the two major donors for the project. Mr. Dillard played baseball for the City of Spartanburg for many years.

Additional phases planned include a 700 seat stadium, new fitness facility, locker rooms and dorms.
